Ashley Weekly Named AmeriCorps Upstate Site Supervisor of the Year

Ashley Weekly, Homeowner Services Manager, was named the AmeriCorps Site Supervisor of the Year by the United Way of Greenville County. The award recognizes an individual who supports an AmeriCorps team member(s) in exemplary ways.

As Rebuild Upstate’s site supervisor for the AmeriCorps Upstate program, Ashley oversees two AmeriCorps service members who support home repair program participants. AmeriCorps members connect Upstate families and individuals with community resources like financial classes and tools, educational programs, food, and social service applications for SNAP benefits and Medicaid. Members provide economic mobility coaching to create a personalized plan to help clients define and reach long-term goals. Rebuild Upstate first hosted AmeriCorps Upstate service members in 2015.

Weekly joined Rebuild Upstate’s staff in 2019 and has served in a variety of homeowner-facing roles. As Homeowner Services Manager, Ashley contacts home repair program applicants to schedule project manager visits, oversees intake paperwork and applications, and is the primary point of contact for homeowners prior to repairs. In 2022, Weekly earned her Certified Aging in Place Specialist Certification, a credential designed to equip those who help older adults age in place.

“Ashley is positive, responsive, conscientious, and adaptable,” shared Abby Blakely, Senior Manager of Capacity Programs at United Way of Greenville County. “When a team member needed a placement last minute, she was willing to take on the challenge of providing onboarding mid-year. When another team member had a crisis, Ashley handled the situation with grace and made sure everyone involved was treated with dignity. Our tagline is ‘Fight poverty. Find your path,’ and Ashley Weekly ensures our team is able to do both.”

AmeriCorps service members partner with Rebuild Upstate’s home repair program through the AmeriCorps Upstate grant, a Corporation for National and Community Service program. Locally, the AmeriCorps Upstate grant is administered by the United Way of Greenville County. The grant secures funds for service members to work alongside community nonprofits and create greater access to programs and services throughout the Upstate.
